Like a master butcher slices through meat to find you only the best cuts, I’ve been cutting together a showreel to wow any potential employers. It gives a far greater representation of my work than just my Major. I like it. Particularly when it’s cut to the fabulous “Rush” by The Seatbelts.
It features work from the:
- Major Project
- Masterclass Project
- Specialist Projects (Master & Metal) and
- 2nd Year Group Project (”La Place”)
All of which you could take a look at in my portfolio (which I haven’t entirely finished yet, but it’ll come, don’t worry!) or you could just take a look at my shiny new showreel! So you can either click the handy link in the sidebar that conveniently stays where it is or you can CLICK THIS LINK!

Well, it’s done. Ok, so perhaps it’s not done as in there’s a tiny bit of animation missing, but I’m not going to work on it any more. It’s been a fun project but I’m disappointed that lots of stuff got in the way of me starting animation and as such it’s perhaps not as polished as I would like. I was actually pleased at how well it came out on the big screen at MPC - much better than on a small monitor or TV in fact, so that was good. I’d just like to reiterate my many thanks for everyone that has helped me to complete this project, be it in the form of actual assets (such as sound design) or just giving me suggestions and advice.
- My tutor, Phill Allen
- My housemates
- Vangelis Papageorgiou (Music)
- Efthimis Tikellis (Sound Design)
- Scott-Harrison Sargeant (Screenwriter)
- My family
- Anyone on any forum that may have given their input on my project
Thank you all.

And now without further ado, I give you Nightshift.

Well, I apologise for taking so damn long to write or post anything on here of late. First, to the main point of the post (which I forgot the first time I wrote it) - I got a 2:1 for my degree! Woo! Was a bit worried I’d cocked up the Maths exam, but apparently not! I’ve been taking some time out to try and relax, of course, with the degree show that took place on Friday, it was nearly impossible. Thankfully that’s out of the way now and I’m happy to report that it went rather well! Got to speak to loads of games companies (that’s where my main focal point is at the moment), in fact, there were hardly any film companies there at all which I thought was rather odd (especially since they’re supposed to be crewing up for some big films, like Potter 5). Apparently it’s the norm for the games companies to miss out on the new blood, but they’ve been very pro-active this year it seems. With some assistance from Phill Allen (who had a list of what everyone would like to do), I managed to speak to:
- Ninja Theory
- Sony Games (Cambridge Studio)
- Bizarre Creations
- Creative Assembly
- Evolution Studios
- Frontier Developments
- Framestore CFC
- Nexus Productions
…who all seemed very nice. Had a quick chat with them all and handed out showreels (which will receive it’s premiere on daniel-lim.co.uk shortly!) I’m just hoping I start to hear back from them in the next week or so. That’s not unreasonable is it? I’ll have to start pestering if I don’t. I’ve also been meaning to send out reels to all the companies that didn’t show up to the degree show. I blame the weather, I’m lathargic! Ideally I’d like to stay in and around London for at least my first job (I’ve missed London a fair bit since being in Bournemouth - not that having access to nice weather and a beach is a bad thing), but I’m happy to go where the work is.
I’ll keep you posted when I start hearing from people. Wish me luck!
