And the results are in…

Well, I apologise for taking so damn long to write or post anything on here of late. First, to the main point of the post (which I forgot the first time I wrote it) - I got a 2:1 for my degree! Woo! Was a bit worried I’d cocked up the Maths exam, but apparently not! I’ve been taking some time out to try and relax, of course, with the degree show that took place on Friday, it was nearly impossible. Thankfully that’s out of the way now and I’m happy to report that it went rather well! Got to speak to loads of games companies (that’s where my main focal point is at the moment), in fact, there were hardly any film companies there at all which I thought was rather odd (especially since they’re supposed to be crewing up for some big films, like Potter 5). Apparently it’s the norm for the games companies to miss out on the new blood, but they’ve been very pro-active this year it seems. With some assistance from Phill Allen (who had a list of what everyone would like to do), I managed to speak to:

  • Ninja Theory
  • Sony Games (Cambridge Studio)
  • Bizarre Creations
  • Creative Assembly
  • Evolution Studios
  • Frontier Developments
  • Framestore CFC
  • Nexus Productions

…who all seemed very nice. Had a quick chat with them all and handed out showreels (which will receive it’s premiere on daniel-lim.co.uk shortly!) I’m just hoping I start to hear back from them in the next week or so. That’s not unreasonable is it? I’ll have to start pestering if I don’t. I’ve also been meaning to send out reels to all the companies that didn’t show up to the degree show. I blame the weather, I’m lathargic! Ideally I’d like to stay in and around London for at least my first job (I’ve missed London a fair bit since being in Bournemouth - not that having access to nice weather and a beach is a bad thing), but I’m happy to go where the work is.

I’ll keep you posted when I start hearing from people. Wish me luck!
