Class 1 Week 6

Just an animation this week, but a real tough one! Overlapping action or the ‘successive breaking of joints’ is a key tenet of animation. It exists all over the place, even if you don’t see it at first – and it’s certainly important if you want to create nice looking, dynamic animation!

We had to plan out a move for a simple block and animated the subsequent reaction of the pendulum hanging beneath it.

This is the all-important planning I did for the starting motion of the pendulum:

This week’s assignment was… reasonably successful. I think I lost sight of how the pendulum should really be reacting to the movement of the block and as such it feels a little too floaty and light. Next time perhaps!
